Amy Lee And Lacy Sturm all the way..

  • Reply kralicaaleks August 13, 2019 at 1:57 am

it's an absolute sin that Sharon Den Adel is #9. hers is the best band on this list, and she's the best vocalist (along with Lzzy Hale); she should be at least in the top three. the fact that Amy Lee is so ahead, #5 on the list, is absolutely disrespectful…Within Temptation walked so Evanescence could run.

also, i'm very happy the Distillers are getting the recognition they deserve…seeing them in a video with symphonic metal bands like Epica makes my punk heart happy. but the women who Brody Dalle wouldn't have existed without – Courtney Love and Joan Jett) – are missing, which i'm pretty bummed about, considering the Runaways were revolutionary as the first all-female rock band, and Hole was also a very influential feminist band.

The Pretty Reckless deserved a lot more than an honorable mention. although Taylor Momsen is not THAT talented, the quality of her band is almost up there with Halestorm. i knew everyone on this list except #10, no idea who she is, so they should've taken that place.

Flyleaf and Distiller are not metal by any definition. They could have been replaced by any of the honorable mentions or Leaves Eyes or Butcher Babies or something

Who I mis in this list is Vibeke Stene, front woman of the first 5 Tristania albums. Luckely I saw them live before she left the band. She also has an amazing vocal range.

  • Reply Kalten Browning August 17, 2019 at 11:31 pm

I would just like to correct something. Mojo bragged about Tarja Turunen's 3 octave range. I beleive her range is better than that. A 3 octave range is normal, a 4 octace range is great, and a 5 octave range is amazing.

  • Reply WWTormentor August 19, 2019 at 7:15 am

There are a couple that were missed. Lita Ford and Joan Jett. Also I think Doro should have been number one. I have been a fan of her and warlock since 1985. She’s an amazing singer and even more amazing live.

  • Reply RainbowDemon August 19, 2019 at 10:13 am

This is clearly written by someone who maybe researched heavy metal but isn't actually into it. Doro hasn't been really relevant in years and Flyleaf and The Distillers could be left out in favor of actual heavy metal and left the hard rock out, Halestorm is one of the most overrated bands of all time – they're an inferior version of Paramore or Cold Kingdom. And Evanescence? Are you kidding me? She's a good vocalist but she's hardly one of the leaders of female-fronted heavy music.

Sharon den Adel was a good pick, as was Simone Simons and Cristina Scabbia. I'd accept Marina Brink on the list over some of the others. Tarya Turunen's a classic but her solo career hasn't been that exceptional.

This is just a popularity contest, not anything actually relevant.
