Hi. My name is Cody Kimmel. I am the lead
singer of the band Eliot Fitzgerald and I’m here with Expert Village to teach you how
to write an alternative pop song. So now that we’ve talked about what a bridge is, why a
bridge is so important especially in an alternative pop song, as a song writer. We’ve talked about
the chord structure, how, especially for this song, if it’s in a more major key, you want
to go to a more minor feel for the bridge just to kind of be able to set it apart. If
you can change the tempo, not necessarily change like the bpm’s per tempo but change
whether it’s half time or double time or something like that. And then lyrically, if you can
cause enough of a change and melodically cause enough of a change to really set it apart
and give the listener a break from what it’s hearing before, we’re ready to put it together.
So let me play the chorus first so you can hear how the chorus flows into the bridge. And there it is, there’s a bridge.
