Yes Harry Bosch brought me here. Unbelievable Art Pepper!! Saxophone is in my opinion the most heartbreaking music instrument (a.o. Popmusic INXS "Love will never breaks us apart")You brought me quite to tears Mr Pepper, your music will live on forever

I worked with Chet Baker for many years, and I remember being with Chet on the grass above Santa Monica Beach, and we were talking about different musicians that we liked. I mentioned how much I liked Art Pepper, and Chet looked at me with a smile on his face and said that 'Art Pepper was the most lyrically swinging Alto player ever'!!- And I completely agree. I've always loved Art's tone & phrasing. Man, Art can make me cry & conversely, lift my spirit to the heaven. Artt Frank long time drummer with Chet Baker.

I've listened to Art for years. I recommend Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, featuring Red Garland Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones: Miles Davis alumni. I bet Harry Bosch knows that album too…

Listening Art in a pub, after three whiskies, Harry told me last night he'll never give up the fight.

this chap really knows his onions and if you read his autobiog, straight life, you'll get a much better idea OF how he put his life into music. I have always preferred alto to tenor sax so I'm a bit biased, but pepper has a lovely, crisp, flowing sound that is a bit like bird admittedly, but less frantic for the most part

  • Reply Claude Julien April 29, 2019 at 2:56 am

The most beautiful jazz ballad on the saxophone I know.

  • Reply arthur kyriazis April 29, 2019 at 2:56 am

just to be clear, i saw art pepper live in the 1970s. i am the kind of jazz guy that thinks Bosch is cool because he listens to Art Pepper, not the other way around.

I honestly son't know who Harry Bosch is but my love of Charlie Parker, Sonny Criss, and John Coltrane brought me to Art years ago. Art is one of the most incredible sax players that ever lived, he defined the sound of the late 70s late night jazzy tunes heard in so many places from corner bars to Saturday Night Live.

I was out of my daughter's life a lot while she was growing up, from prison to years of hospital stays. Thx to Mr. Bosch also for turning me on to this song that I can share with my 21yr old. It's never too late to carry on where you left off. #Lordknows 🙏

Bought 6 jazz LP's, yes, LP's(the only way to hear jazz other than live), since Bosch. My old Mac tube amp and tuner work better than anything else out there. Wish Bosch program jazz soundtracks were sold separately. Producers are missing a profit center there.
